Dear regular customers, members and friends,
the beat goes on!
Every day so many things happen - we have conversations, we research, we change, we decide, we rethink and we ask. Nevertheless, today we try to give a state of affairs, hoping that the info is still up to date when we send the newsletter ;-)
- Almost all conditions are clarified - nevertheless, towards the end of the month, we are still in discussion. We are in the process of finalizing a pre-sale agreement with Elke and Nadia that will cover the transition period and what happens after, so that we can all continue seamlessly in October.
- We will take over all your memberships, you don’t have to do anything else for that. The direct debit contract would have to be changed for October, we will get back to you on this. Of course there will be a special right of cancellation for those who want to make a different decision under these new circumstances.
- At the beginning of last week, we had a first meeting with the property management, in which we presented our plans. It was a good conversation in which everyone agreed that this particular store must and should continue. Further talks will nevertheless follow.
- Furthermore, for us as a collective, the future legal form was a major issue still to be clarified. After a lot of information and discussions we have now decided for a GbR, in which Susan and Irene will be listed as owners. This is necessary to be able to act outwardly. Internally, however, all four of us - A., Ashley, Susan and Irene - are organized as a collective. Rebecca and Christina are still part of the workers team, and beyond that they support us, the “core collective”, energetically wherever they can.
- The other big issue still relates to finances and possible loans from you. We are in the very last stages, just waiting for the activation of our new bank account. When it’s ready, we’ll send you all the information in a separate email - feel free to forward it to people you think might be a good fit!
And now on a very practical note:
From September we finally welcome A. and Ashley. Both of them are learning German - and are looking forward and hoping for your patience and support in this! In addition, our colleague Tatjana will continue, and a new face Stefano, will support us, both for September.
During this time we continue to ask for your understanding and patience. You know the complex structures of the store. So maybe you can imagine that it is a little bit of a challenge to start with a new team in such a short time. Also for us “old hands” it means to learn a lot and new things, because the work in a collective is different. Of course, we still try to be as reliable as before!
In order to be able to do exactly that, we have decided to make a change at one point: We are changing the extended opening hours on Thursdays, so that from September 1st we will be there for you Mon-Fri from 9am to 7pm, and Saturdays still from 9am to 4pm. This has to do with our resources like staff, time and energy. However, we are taking the topic of longer opening hours into our long-term planning, because we know that this is a wish from many of you.
We are also happy if you are willing and able to give us a hand! Specifically, we are looking for people who are handy and can help us to make a few repairs. There is this link, which will be updated regularly - please have a look and let us know:
