Dear all,

April showers bring May flowers, there are great news!

New Café: Welcome Warawul!

Some of you already knew, but now it’s official: we’re handing over the running of our Bistro to the wonderful Warawul Café!

Warawul is a new coffee roasting company from Neukölln that offers so-called speciality coffee. These are high quality coffees that come exclusively from a single region (“single-origin”), so not a mixture of different beans, and have very different flavour profiles depending on the roasting and processing method. Warawul also follows the principle of co-branding, which means that a very close relationship is maintained with the producers, and this is visible on every coffee pack.

Warawul is a group of four highly motivated people who have put their heart and soul into sharing their passion for good coffee and the work and appreciation of the people behind the coffee beans.

We are very happy that in Warawul we have found people who share our values and who are now going to enrich us as a new part of the collective! This is a big change for us and for Bioase and we hope you love it as much as we do! Click here to visit their website for more information. Welcome Warawul! ☀️ 🌻 🎉

In concrete terms, this means

Coffee and cake orders will only be accepted, paid for and handed out at the Warawul counter

The member prices still apply for members 🙂

Soups will continue to be served at the Bioase counter, but Warawul is working hard to be able to offer its own lunch menu soon!

New Saturday opening hours

Along with the Bistro changes, we are also changing our Saturday opening hours. From 18.5 onwards we will be there for you from 9am - 6pm, wooooow! 🥳 🥳

New products

As summer approaches, so does the variety on our plates!

The first strawberries are available from Southern Germany 🍓 🍓

The local asparagus season is still in full swing and is now much more affordable than at the start of the season, so grab it while it’s still here 🙂!

The first early potatoes, watermelons, nectarines and peaches are already arriving from Italy and Spain!

The native vegetable season is also slowly starting again. Spinach, various lettuces, pak choi and the first cucumbers have finally arrived - availability is still very limited in some cases and prices are still quite high at the start of the season. So we are supplementing our range with produce from abroad.

From Roots Radicals in Neukölln we now have new pickled lemons! These are well known in North African and especially Moroccan cuisine and give the dish a very spicy, floral note. The flesh, peel and brine can all be used, so get creative 🙂!

We finally have the first tomato seedlings from Gut Krauscha and they are itching to go into the ground! 🍅 🌱 🌱 ☀️

Product of the Month: Midnight Miracle Sleeping Cream This time Irene chooses the Midnight Miracle - Sleeping Cream by i+m Berlin as the Bioase Product of the Month for May:

For some people, skin care is pure vanity: it regulates itself. In reality, however, environmental influences such as UV rays, polluted air or everyday stress have a significant impact on our largest organ. That’s why it’s a good idea to take care of your skin regularly, especially if you don’t want to have rough skin on your face.

Irene: “I was curious about this new blue cream. I tried it in the evening after my holiday in March, when my skin was very tired and exhausted from UV light and smog. By the second or third day my skin looked and felt much softer. The red spots that had been there for a long time from lip herpes also disappeared. My conclusion: The Midnight Miracle care complex of pure blue fern and beta-glucan really does seem to help with cell renewal and skin hydration! *

A word about water kefir Like kombucha, water kefir is a probiotic fermented drink. Our homemade water kefir is a delicate, sensitive drink 😉 It prefers to be stored cool and upright and does not like to be shaken**. Otherwise, when you open the bottle, the contents may fizz out faster than you’d like! If you are really unsure, you can place the bottle in a tall container and hold another container over it when you open it.

News from the team

We welcome another addition to the Bioase team: Welcome, Lucy! 🎉 Lucy is supporting us for a limited time as a mini-jobber, especially in the evenings. Unfortunately, we are saying goodbye to Claudi and Jay again - it’s a shame that the time was so short, but thank you for being there! 🙂

Visit to the BioOst

Just like last year, part of our team attended the BioOst fair in Leipzig. BioOst Leipzig is a trade fair for the organic sector. Here you can try out many new products from the organic sector, especially culinary delights. So we spent a whole day “feasting” on a wide range of products. Many regional, national and international manufacturers and producers showcase their organic food products, especially new ones.

We were particularly impressed by a cheese supplier who specialises exclusively in organic products. From them we can obtain selected and particularly tasty cheese products as well as a very convincing vegan cheese. We are looking forward to working with them and to many new cheeses, so keep your eyes open 😉!

We also visited a stand for water filter systems. We asked ourselves to what extent you would be interested in unpackaged water? As these systems are very expensive, only a few people can afford one for private use. We were certainly impressed by the taste of this water. Anyone interested in such an offer in the Bioase is welcome to contact us and we would then look into the question of such an offer in more detail.

Miscellaneous

another reminder to members that our trial month promo campaign for your friends is still running until the end of May 🙂 If you have already suggested friends, please contact them again, because not all membership cards have been collected yet!

and here again the link to our unpacked survey. If it is not loading properly on your smartphone, it will definitely work on your laptop. We are curious to see what you would like!

Finally…

… as always, all that remains is to say: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And see you later in the Bioase 🙂
