We are autonomous, which means we are independent of investors and shareholders.
We act collectively, which means we work alltogether without bosses.
We are authentic, with all ups and downs, but always with heart.
And we are bio, but not a company!
All this means for us to be more than just a supermarket for organic food. It’s not just about a product’s “Nutri-Score”, a certificate or mere consumption. We value direct sales & short trade routes, collaboration with other independent farms, as well as trust & long-term relationships. To us, it is important to know where the products come from and how they find their way to us, how the resources are cultivated and mined, what the working conditions are like and who the people behind the products are.
Especially in today’s world, where the trend is moving more and more towards anonymity, automation, accumulation of wealth, greed and competition, we want to create and maintain a place where we can continue to meet as human beings and fill concepts like solidarity, social justice, empowerment, co-responsibility and utopia with life. We cannot change the world or solve conflicts through consumption alone. What we can do is contribute to a more solidary, more just and less exploitative world - in the here & now, and in spite of it all. Despite global inflation, despite crisis, and despite continuous profit-driven sell-off of uncommercial living and working spaces all over Berlin. We want to be like a small rock in the surf in the ever changing Karl-Marx-Straße in Neukölln. It is important to preserve such places of utopia.
In addition to the day-to-day shop work these are our visions:
- replacing as many packed products with loose and bulk products as possible and wherever its truly meaningful
- improving the shops circular economy and thus reducing the shops wastage wherever its possible
- encouraging need-oriented production and consumption through a clever pre-ordering system
- setting up co2-free delivery of goods by cargo bikes
- becoming a place for social, cultural and political encounters
- getting involved and tighten our bonds with local Kiez businesses, collectives, movements and structures who share our values
